The opening day of the corporate campaign was graced by guest of honour, Mr Sam Tan Chin Siong, Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Manpower & Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Officers from the Ministry of Manpower, WSH Council, WSH Institute, JTC Corporation and HDB, as well as council members and management from SCAL and our business partners were also in attendance.
Our CEO, Mr Wong Chee Herng, delivered the opening speech to commence the campaign. This was followed by the unveiling of the theme of the campaign – Safety Leads Us Home to Our Families – by our CEO and COO, Mr Kenneth Loo. Minister of State, Sam Tan, was then invited on stage to deliver his keynote speech.
The safety pledge was next. To drive home the point that all had a part to play in preventing the occurrence of incidents, the guest of honour, various key officers from the authorities and members of our top management were invited on stage to imprint their handprints onto clay moulds mounted on the stage backdrop. The handprints epitomised the principle that safety is in the hands of everyone who was involved at the worksite.
A WSH-themed drama skit followed and was presented by our Yishun N4C17 project team. In line with the campaign’s theme, the skit showcased how one unsafe act could detrimentally impact a worker’s life and that of his family in a permanent way.
In the penultimate event of the opening day of the campaign, our CEO presented awards to the most safety conscious supervisor and worker as recognition and encouragement for their excellent safety performance.
Our Director (Projects), Mr James Ng Robertson, concluded the proceedings of the opening-day event by delivering the closing speech.
Throughout the opening day of the corporate Construction Safety Promotion Campaign, our top management had demonstrated their steadfast commitment in ensuring no harm to our staff and workers in the course of work. The message conveyed by the top management was consistent and clear: All accidents are preventable and safety leads us home to our families.
